Mill Arts Centre • Banbury • February 16th - 18th 2015

We worked with a group of young people and young leaders from the OYAP Trust creating songs and performing with a live band. After two days of hard work, and collaboration, the young people performed eight original songs. They were amazing to work with and we were so impressed with the results. Well done everyone. Thanks to everyone at OYAP, Flexie Muiso, Fred Claridge, young leaders Hannah Bruce and Ryan “Chukie” Weller, and musicians Tobie Carpenter and Gerald Claridge.

MEET THE CHOIRS

Mizike

MIZIKE CHOIR

Oxford’s afropean choral group was originally the brainchild of singer, composer and
arranger AnitaDaulne (ex Zap Mama) and forms a bridge between the western and African world,
the urban andthe ethnic, offering a different approach to song, a compelling mix of
polyphony and rhythm.
The choir formed in 2007 and first started performing in 2008. There are currently 11 members,
all of whom play a vital part in the unique sound of the choir and in running the rehearsals .
We sing in a contemporary style based on traditional and new songs
arranged by Anita Daulne and other singers.
Jericho

JERICHO SINGERS

Jericho Singers is a friendly, fun group of folk who get together in the beautiful an historic
St. Barnabas Church in Jericho, Oxford. The choir started as a project to bring together the
land and water communities around the Oxford Canal. Funds raised from regular concerts go
towards the Jericho Wharf Project, a community project to regenerate the old boatyard in Jericho.

ASTOR COMMUNITY CHOIR

The Astor Community Choir meetup every week to share our love of singing.
We are a friendly bunch of folk and hold no auditions. You don’t need to be able to
read music, play an instrument or have any previous experience
singing – by yourself or in a choir.
We sing a range of songs from pop to folk to classical to world music.

Collaborators with visual artists, poets, theatre… it’s all going on!
We have a monthly night at Night and Day Cafe, one of the most loved and established music venues
in the UK, and a series of workshops coming up too with some great artists.
